There are many people out there that have great ideas. Some of those ideas are for inventions that are very unique in nature. If you feel that you have thought of something that could be considered an invention and it does not exist then you may have considered using an invention submission service. There are some things that you should be aware of, however, when you are considering using one of these services. While the legitimate companies may be about to help you to get your invention in front of the right people, there are many scams out there that will simply take your money and not give you anything in return. Here are some of the ways to tell if your invention submission company is actually going to help you or not.

First, you need to find out if they have helped other people in the past. There are several ways that you can do this. One way that you can tell is to look for negative reviews about them with either the FTC or perhaps the Better Business Bureau. If the company that you are looking into has scammed people in the past, they will typically show up on the radar somewhere or other. Of course it is also possible that you will find negative reports about a great company as well, but multiple bad reports is usually indicative of a fly by night company.

You can also use the Internet to do some research into the company. Since the online world has surfaced, it has provided a great means for people to give their opinions about services that they have used, both good and bad. You can go to Google and search for feedback and reviews on the particular company that you are looking into.

You might want to check and see how many people they have helped with their inventions. There are literally millions of people out there that submit inventions every year to these companies in the hopes of striking it rich. Most of these submissions are not worth the paper that they are printed on, unfortunately. If the company that you are looking at routinely accepts a very high percentage of their submissions then chances are that they are simply out to take your money.

One final thing that you might want to look at when you are choosing your invention submission company is what kind of upfront fees they charge. Most invention submission services will charge a small upfront fee in order to handle the initial paperwork but others will charge a very high fee. Make sure that it is not necessary for you to put out a large sum of money in the beginning. Most reputable invention submission services will not charge a large fee, if they charge one at all.

By being diligent in your research you can find out for sure if the invention company that you are looking into is reputable or not. By avoiding the duds and going with the legitimate companies, you will help raise the chances of being successful by submitting your invention to the masses.
